"This collection includes seventeen pieces selected from the United States Literary Gazette, among them the four not included in the 1826 volume of Miscellaneous poems selected from the United States Literary Gazette,' but omitting The angler's song,' which is found in that volume. In addition there are included The burial of the Minnisink' from The Atlantic Souvenir,' 1827, The spirit of poetry,' from The Atlantic Souvenir,' 1828and Two sonnets from the Spanish of Francisco de Medrano,' which were printed in the Coplas de Don Jorge Manrique,' but omitted by the author when that poem was reprinted."--L.
